Memento Mori "Remember thy Death" Ring

Life is short, and shortly it will end;
Death comes quickly and respects no one,
Death destroys everything and takes pity on no one.
To death we are hastening, let us refrain from sinning.
If you do not turn back and become like a child,
And change your life for the better,
You will not be able to enter, blessed, the Kingdom of God.
To death we are hastening, let us refrain from sinning.

Much memento mori is associated with the Mexican festival, Day of the Dead, including even skull-shaped candies, and bread loaves adorned with bread "bones".  This is another funeral pin that has been converted into a unique ring.

The size is 2" wide by 3/4" high. On an adjustable gunmetal band.

Snow finally ended

We are snowed in! We received 15 inches (at lot for this area). The storm started Christmas Day (many were happy for Christmas Snow) and it snowed for 2 1/2 days. We'll just keep on digging ourselves out...

Christmas Snow in the South

Winter wonderland here in the mountains.

So far we received 9 1/2 inches and the snow is expected to finally end tomorrow around noon.

Of course we are stranded - good thing we did not lose our electricity and it's a good time to just bundle up with some hot chocolate and watch the snow fall, and fall and fall.

Peace

Still thinking about you.

I know that for some folks the holiday season is a hard time, especially if there is a loss in the family.

Lillian passed away last Saturday after a long battle with cancer. The funeral was this past Wednesday and Chris was asked to be a pallbearer. There wasn't a dry eye and it was a beautiful sermon. She was much loved and respected.

Mike, Robyn and the rest of the family our thoughts and prayers are still with you.

Peace.

website and store

Well with the New Year just around the corner... only fitting to start the New Year with a new site design!

However, I'm still working on the website and will be for a while. Making jewelry, painting and working a full time job, while taking care of the farm animals is taxing at times.

"OUR DARLING" - VICTORIAN MOURNING - DEPARTED CHILD

A Ornate Victorian funeral piece circa 1860 to 1900s. The original "Our Darling" was probably a brass tag that was either inlaid or nailed into a coffin.

"Our Darling" is a term used when mourning children, and would be used to commemorate a death of child.

"Our Darling" were used on flowers, lapel pins and casket tags.

The funeral pin is cast in silver and I have converted it into a ring. It is hand oxidized to match the gunmetal band. Nearly an inch and a half long and slightly over an inch wide, making it a bold statement piece. And will be available soon as rings and necklaces. Shown here are the rings.
